Accountability is one of my main ideas within training. Each time I do a gym workout I will post the workouts and results on here to publicly hold myself accountable for pushing myself. Today was the first time in a looong time I hit the gym. Why? Well frankly I didn’t set any gym-involved goals for myself, however now I do have a goal. Collegiate Track Nationals in September (21-23). Now again, why?
Road cycling was my first racing discipline which I started April 2010. While road racing is fun, I found that my personal favorite activity is sprinting. Fast forward to summer 2011. “Try the track day” at the Trexlertown, PA Veoldrome. This is the first time I ever touched a track bike and I immediately fell in love with the sport. I may not have been the rider there with the most endurance, but I was definitely one of the strongest sprinters there. This got me thinking that I need to get into this sport. Unfortunately it was too late to start racing that summer, so I put the idea aside and focused on tearing up the roads for the next bunch of months. Now school is ending again and I’ve decided to take up a job buying back textbooks to raise money to get a track bike. I’ve been doing extra workouts to increased my power output and lately I have definitely noticed a dramatic increase in my sprint speeds. This summer I plan to be racing at the Trexlertown Velodrome as well as the “velodrome” in Wall, NJ. I just need to earn 21 points (typical points per race are 7, 5, 3, 2, 1) by the end of the summer to be able to go to Collegiate Nationals in Texas. Am I motivated? You bet your lycra-covered butt I am!
Anyway, here are my base numbers that I will work off of for the rest of the summer.
